After its conception and creation, the UV protector was sent for independant laboratory testing, providing some very positive results.
Under laboratory conditions and conforming to ISO4892-2: 1994, two sets of identical panels were tested, one untreated (no Carbon UV Protector coating) and the other treated with the Carbon UV Protector
The untreated panels were exposed to 1000 hours of accelerated weathering which equates to approximately 4 years of northern European light.
Then, treated panels were exposed for the same period of time but recoated every 250 hours with the UV Protector (1 year)
The results of the treatment and exposure levels were then reassessed.
The results of the exposure on the treated panels produced the following conclusions:-
After each period of 250 hours accelerated weathering the test samples were recoated with the carbon UV protector, this was repeated to give a total exposure of 1000 hours of accelerated weathering.
After treatment the treated panels showed a marked improvement with no perceivable difference in gloss or colour from the original samples.
These results suggest that if panels are recoated after 12 months of northern European light, the coating should prolong the life expectancy of the panels.
All 3 treated panels showed no damage to the surface after 1000 hours, the untreated panels after 500 hours started to show surface damage and a serious deterioration in surface gloss, after 1000 hours reductions in gloss were recorded which exceeed 80%
